My daughter just had a birthday not too long ago, and one of the many things on her list was “Barbie Furniture”. As I surfed various websites looking for Barbie Furniture, I noticed that most were “formed” plastics. Now I did run across a few that were really nice with real cloth upholstery, but those were also nicely priced as well.
I started thinking back to when I was my daughter’s age. I loved playing with my Barbies. Now, to give you a little bit of my background, I am very fortunate to be the youngest of two daughters. My sister is 3 1/2 years older than me and VERY creative. I began to remember all the Barbie things that my sister would create. I then thought “Why can’t I do the same for my daughter?”
So, instead of recycling our plastics with the recycling company, we have started recycling them into Barbie furniture. Below is a picture of a non-dairy creamer plastic container and the resulting black upholstered Barbie chair.
The latest thing we’ve created is a Barbie Couch. I did a video for those who want to know how we did it. Now remember that I have an nine-month-old, and I home school also, so the quicker I can make something the better life is. Perfection is a luxury that I apply to only certain situations…soooo with that said – Here ya go!! Enjoy!!
Hope this will give others some good ideas on making YOUR own Barbie furniture!!
